GeForce GTX 460 SLI Reviewed: Cost Performance Monster
Conclusion

As you can tell, GeForce GTX 460 delivers decent SLI efficiency and performance improvements of at least 80%. The GTX 460 1GB SLI provides 19% better performance than GeForce GTX 480. Restrained by memory size and bandwidth, the GTX 460 768MB SLI seemed to be a little powerless but still delivering 4% higher SLI performance than GTX 480.
Compared with the Radeon HD 5970, GTX 460 1GB SLI took a lead of 5%, while GTX 460 768MB SLI was 8% behind.
The power consumption of two GTX460s is almost equal to that of Radeon HD 5970, which proves the great power control of GTX 460.
In terms of cost performance, the GTX 460 1GB SLI cost $458 ($229*2), which is cheaper than GTX 480 ($499) and Radeon HD 5970 ($679-$699). The GTX 460 768MB SLI cost $398, almost as expensive as GTX 470, but it offers much better performance than GTX 470.
GTX 460 SLI exceeded all the other cards in the same price segment, and it’s even capable of challenging the Radeon HD 5970 which is 50% more expensive.
Thanks to the significant improvement of GF104 GPU in terms of power consumption and heat dissipation, NVIDIA is very likely to use it to create its new-generation dual-GPU flagship card. If optimized in frequency, the new flagship is expected to easily defeat the opponent and regain the honor of best graphics card.

Hi Sue, can you please benchmark the application that use GPU? Like Photoshop CS5, Badaboom, Adobe Premiere CS5, etc. Some app that use either Direct Compute, CUDA, OpenCL, etc. I just want to know if GTX 480 is worth to buy vs GTX 460 in CUDA or any apps? Thank you.
