Asus Rampage III Gene Motherboard Review
Benchmark Platform & Settings

We used Inno3D GeForce GTX 460 768MB graphics card, Core i7-920 CPU (OC’ed 4.0GHz), and set the memory clock at 1600MHz.
The benchmark was conducted under Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit operating system, with NVIDIA ForceWare 258.96 WHQL drivers.
Benchmark Results

We adjusted the voltage of Core i7-920 (D0) to 1.248V, and overclocked it to 4.2GHz, with memory set at 1600MHz.
The external frequency improved to 220MHz when the core voltage was 1.20V, and reached 4.62GHz (220.5×21) when the core voltage increased to 1.376V.
Conclusion

As the updated version of Rampage II Gene, Rampage III Gene packs additional support for SATA 6Gbps, USB 3.0, ROG Connect and Probelt voltage measuring funcitions, while being available for the same price.
Despite of its limited expansion ability, the new board delivers uncompromising overclocking potential. You could use it to build a compact yet powerful system.
By using top-class materials, its performance can satisfy most consumers, and you can even build a dual-card gaming PC with it, so we’d like to entitle it with the king of Micro-ATX motherboards.

Hands down, Apple’s app store wins by a mile. It’s a huge selection of all sorts of apps vs a rather sad selection of a handful for Zune. Microsoft has plans, especially in the realm of games, but I’m not sure I’d want to bet on the future if this aspect is important to you. The iPod is a much better choice in that case.
