Rumor:Oracle To Acquire AMD,NVIDIA,IBM?

As Bloomberg reported,Oracle Corp plans to acquire more semiconductor companies and software company.Some analysts predict the chip-makers like AMD,NVIDIA,IBM may be acquired.

In the Oracle’s annual meeting,Chief Executive Officer of Oracle said that Oracle will follow the approach of Apple Inc.,Apple has bought semiconductor to develop iPad and iPhone. Oracle Corp aims to get more computer intellectual property by integrating software and hardware.

The industry analyst Doug Freedman held the view that Oracle Corp acquires semi-conductor company for the sake of server technology,so the target may include the chip division of AMD,NVIDIA and IBM.

However,AMD’s spokesman doesn’t comment on the speculation and rumors.NVIDIA and IBM refused to give any comment to this matter. Dear readers, what do you think of the acquisition?

    With their purchase of Sun, haven’t they already got the integration between software and hardware? Why would they go buying more companies?

    I don’t think Oracle is large enough to acquire Intel, and they most certainly aren’t large enough to even bother attempting that with IBM. So perhaps Nvidia or AMD. However this still doesn’t make sense with Oracle primarily in database software.

    The initial article was predicting about Oracle buying Nvidia’s or IBM’s chip divisions, not the whole companies, of course.
