Radeon HD 6000 to Make Official Debut in Late October

AMD is expected to announce the Radeon HD 6000 series graphics cards in late October, according to Fudzilla.

ATI plans to launch the Northern Islands cards in Q4, which is closer to the actually shipping time. Last year AMD launched Radeon HD 5000 series in Q3, but didn’t start shipping until the fourth quarter.

The source indicates that the new generation is just a tweaked up design of Radeon HD 5000, and its tessellation performance hasn’t been significantly improved. However the whole generation is faster than the Radeon HD 5000.

The press event is supposed to take place in Los Angeles in the 43rd week that starts October 18th, but this is something that has yet to be confirmed.
