ITC Sets To Investigate Rambus’ Claims On Semiconductor Patents

The United States International Trade Commission(USITC) has recently announced to set to institute an investigation of Rambus’ claims on semiconductor patents from several companies last month.
At the beginning of last month,Rambus claimed that they were infringed certain patents from the Dally family of patents and certain patents from the Barth family of patents.The involved companies involved Broadcom Corporation,Freescale Semiconductor,LSI Corporation,MediaTek Inc.,NVIDIA Corporation and STMicroelectronics N.V.
For the Dally patents,the accused semiconductor products from these companies include ones that incorporate PCI Express,certain Serial ATA,certain Serial Attached SCSI (SAS),and DisplayPort interfaces. In the case of the Barth patents,the accused semiconductor products include ones that incorporate DDR,DDR2,DDR3,mobile DDR,LPDDR,LPDDR2 and GDDR3 memory controllers.Accused semiconductor products in the complaint include graphics processors,media processors,communications processors,chip sets and other logic integrated circuits (ICs).
The USITC has identified the following as respondents in this investigation: Freescale Semiconductor,Broadcom Corporation,LSI Corporation,Mediatek,NVIDIA,STMicroelectronics,ASUSTEK Computer,Biostar Microtech,Elitegroup Computer Systems,EVGA Corporation,Galaxy Micro Systems,Giga-byte Technology,Hewlett-Packard Company CA,MSI Computer Corporation,Motorola,Seagate Technology,Sparkle Computer,Zotac International and so on.
