Intel To Release Light Peak Connection Technology On Thursday

Intel has sent invitation to different media, announcing to release officially a high-speed connection technology called Light Peak in San Francisco.

Today Intel spokesman said,"This Thursday we will host a press briefing to discuss a new technology that is about to appear on the market."

Coincidently, just on Thursday Apple will also introduce new MacBook Pro series notebooks, which are said to pack Sandy Bridge processors. And therefore,it will arouse industry’s speculation:whether MacBook Pro will support Light Peak technology?

Intel has dived into Light Peak connection technology since several years ago.The initial Light Peak features copper, which is supposed to deliver faster speed than USB 3.0 with transmission speed of 10Gbps in both direction simultaneously. In addition, copper won’t make much effect on transmission speed,in the future,Light Peak speed might even reach 100Gbps.

This high-speed connection technology is expected to apply in Apple products,in 2009 Intel once demonstrated Light Peak technology in Apple’s Mac OS X PC.
