Microsoft Kinect Sales Beyond Expectations in 2010
According to the report from IHS iSuppli,Microsoft Kinect sales reached 8 million units in 2010,which not only exceeded its expectations,but also outperformed its competitor——Sony’s PlayStation Move.
Microsoft at first predicted Kinect’s sales would only attain 5 million units,unexpectedly,the sales was beyond its expectations with 8 million million units by January 4,2011.
By the end of 2010,the global sales of Kinect reached 6.36 million units,by contrast,sales of Sony’s PlayStation Move was just 5.23 million units.
Although standalone PlayStation Move is US$100 cheaper than Kinect,Sony’s marketing investment is much lower than Microsoft,while PlayStation Moves was sold about a month earlier than Kinect.
