Introduction
Intel third-generation SSDs—— 320 series solid state drives(also called G3) will launch at the end of this month, which have got widely attention,as Intel SSDs are always considered to feature decent performance and quite popular with many consumers.
Although Intel 320 series SSDs haven’t been officially introduced,we bought one at Taobao(Just like Ebay but it is in China),the one we got was an 80GB model. Now let’s go on to see how the SSD will perform.

The packing box of Intel 320 series SSDs stick to the color blue. And the accessories include power cable, data cable and 2.5-inch to 3.5-inch mounting bracket.

Is this another mistake by chinese testing the G3? There are other reviews out there where people got hands on G3s on the chinese market but they turned out to be G2s instead…

Dear Chiao, thanking you for supporting our review, but I should say that it’s absolutely not the mistake for testing the G3.As you can see from the tag,it labels “320 series”.We assure you of the integrity and accuracy of our review. Thanks!

Maybe the reason for the low write speed improvement, that this model only have capacity of 80GB, and because of the 25nm manufacturing process there is too few channels with this capacity.
I’d look forward to test the write speed of another model with at least 160GB capacity.

For the 4K Random R/W, it is only 5433/10976 IOPS?? Is that correct?

Dear JL,yes, for the 4K Random R/W,it is only 5433/10976 IOPS.As in average random throughout test,we conducted it under QD1 setting.

What about AES128 encryption? This is the only feature this drive can compete on todays market with. Is it internal like in all cheap SF1200 ssds which to be honest does not increase security at all or… maybe it offers user selectable passphrase? If the latter, what implementation intel chose: pre-boot authentication or bios-supported authentication. If the first what OSes are supported, what boot loaders are compatible with, what’s the performance hit (if any) etc. This feature is essential for laptop users.

In conclusion, we waited 6 months for this shit, Intel you’re good, cheaper production processes but a more expensive SSD.
A big thumbs up to Intel

Is the power consumption improved a little or is there a notable diference between old one and new one? I haven´t found it in your review (sory if I´m blind – only on second page you say, that power consumption is improved slightly and it is quite subjective term…). Thanks for good work anyway!

Bad Test, 80GB Intel SSDs always don’t perform well, if you just look at performance differences of Postville 80GB and 120/160 in regards of IOPS and writes

An fascinating discussion is price comment. I think that it’s best to write extra on this topic, it may not be a taboo subject however generally individuals are not enough to speak on such topics. To the next. Cheers

In addition, from the 17th century to the mid 20th century, French served as the pre-eminent international language of diplomacy and international affairs as well as a lingua franca among the educated classes of Europe. The dominant position of French language has only been overshadowed recently by English.
