Intel To Say Goodbye To LGA 1366 With Core i7-995X Processor

Earlier we have got to know that Intel Sandy Bridge E platform will make its debut in the fourth quarter of this year,before the launch,LGA 1366 platform will still sustain the flagship position.And now we get the news that LGA 1366 platform will meet its last update in the third quarter.

The update brings us Intel Core i7-995X Extreme Edition processor,which adopts six-core and twelve threads design,is based on 32nm manufacturing process and clocks at 3.6GHz.In addition,it supports TurboBoost and tri-channel memory technology,and the dynamic frequency is up to 3.86GHz with TDP of 130W,the price is expected to be US$999.

Although Core i7-995X Extreme Edition processor is not unveiled,Intel has begun small batch engineering sampling,somebody has successfully overclocked Core i7-995X to 4.7GHz when enabling six-core and twelve threads with core voltage set below 1.5V.
