AMD Radeon HD 6850 CrossFire Follow-up Test

Yeston R6850 Game Master graphics card
In last October,we have done an AMD Radeon HD 6850 CrossFire test, and the driver we used was Catalyst 10.10a,we got the conclusion that the average efficiency of Radeon HD 6850 CrossFire was only 68.3%,but we pointed out that "that driver still has much potential to tap,and therefore, there is much improvement space for CrossFire performance."Now after half a year,Catalyst driver has updated to 11.4 editioh,so is there any improvement about CrossFire efficiency with the new driver?
This time,we again used two Yeston R6850 graphics cards to conduct CrossFire test, new Yeston R6850 Game Master graphics card features core/memory clock of 820MHz/1050MHz(date rate of 4200MHz),which will bring performance improvement for single graphics card, but basically not much effect towards CrossFire efficiency.

In this test,we chose 10 graphics test items, including 3DMark Vantage,3DMark 11,DX9,DX10 and DX11 gamings, and all the games were updated with the latest patches. In addition, the test was based on Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit,and we used Catalyst 11.4 driver.

Radeon HD 6850 CrossFire Efficiency Test

Through the comparison test, there was obvious improvement with Radeon HD 6850 CrossFire efficiency test with aid of the latest driver.
In DX11 gaming and software the CrossFire efficiency generally reached 90%,while in Lost Planet 2,the efficiency even achieved 100%.In addition,in our last test,CrossFire was void in Left 4 Dead 2,but the game was enabled this time with efficiency of around 75%.
Compared with the last test data,CrossFire efficiency of all the test items improved greatly(but with efficiency decreasement in DiRT 2).The average CrossFire efficiency of dual-HD 6850 was 84.12%,much improvement than that of 68.3% last year. It’s believed that AMD will provide a better driver for users in the near future enabling great improvement with CrossFire performance. For CrossFire players,it’s necessary for them to upgrade Catalyst driver to the latest version from time to time.
