NVIDIA “Wayne” Tegra Processor Rumored To Come In Two Versions

Though NVIDIA’s 3rd generation Tegra processors haven’t been released,some information about the 4th generation is leaked.The prototype Wayne Tegra silicon will be released to manufacturers and software developers in December 2011.
According to the source from BSN,the 4rd generation Tegra processors include two versions.One is based on quad-core design,its CPU features ARM architecture clocking at not less than 1.5GHz,integrates DirectX 11-grade graphics core,employs no less than 24 CUDA Core,and the performance is 10x of the Tegra 2,while 2x of the Kal-EI.
Another version of Wayne adopts eight-core design,features 32-64 CUDA Core,supports DirectX 11,OpenGL 4.x,OpenCL 1.x and PhysX,targeting at tablets,netbooks and low-power notebooks.
Next year,Microsoft Windows 8 will be unveiled,which will not only support x86-based processors,but also ARM-based processors.From the specs of 4th-generation Tegra processors,NVIDIA is likely to expand the coverage of Tegra to the back-up of desktop platform,facing the challenge from Intel Ivy Bridge CPUs and Bulldozer-based AMD Trinity APUs.
