EA has announced the release of the first Battlefield 3 expansion pack on December 6th (exclusively on PlayStation 3) on the Battlefield Blog, are you ready to go Back to Karkand by then?

Battlefield 3: Back to Karkand is a huge expansion pack featuring four legendary Battlefield maps reimagined in the Frostbite 2 engine. Three new vehicles (the VSTOL fighter jet, Desert Buggy, and an APC), ten new weapons that players can bring back to the base game, and a new layer of persistence with our all-new Assignments make this a must-have for any Battlefield fan.

For those that pre-ordered or purchased the Limited Edition version of the game, Back To Karkand will be free, and it will hit the PlayStation 3 on December 6th and will be available for download on the Xbox 360 and PC from December 13th.
