It seemed that AMD Radeon HD 7970 was only 30% fast than HD 6970 in 3D Mark 11 theoretical test, as the previous news revealed. However, Fudzilla has just stated that the 30% improvement result was got under 3D Mark 11  Entry setting test, which can’t reflect the real performance gap of high-end graphics.

According to the latest information from Fudzilla, HD 7970 could outperform HD 6970 by 50% in 3DMark 11 Extreme test. In the same condition, HD 7970 scores about 2800 points, while HD 6970 scores 1800 points. As for dual-core HD 6990,it scored 3400 points. It’s predicted HD 7970 performance will be close to HD 6900 after overclocking.

It also means that the performance of HD 7970 will be close to GTX 590, what surprise will the new card bring us? The answer will be disclosed on December 22nd.
