Microsoft has never officially confirmed about the exsistance of the highly-anticipated Surface Phone, but according to a recently leaked patent file, Microsoft is seemingly looking to place the fingerprint sensor beneath the device, instead of on the front or rear side as others. Additionally, this may well be used for the future high-end Windows 10 Mobile devices as well.
The company has not provided native fingerprint identification capability before. If they did put the fingerprint sensor beneath the device, it could save precious room on the front side, and keep the phone even more slimmer.
It’s unclear though if the Surface Phone would ever exist, and if it does, when it would be released. When the mysterious device first surfaced, we thought it would pack Intel x86 chip, but the possibility is getting slimmer now that Intel has adjusted its strategy. The only thing for sure is Microsoft is closing the sales and manufacturing business for its Lumia devices before December. Maybe we could find more about the Surface Phone at the rumored launch event on October 26.
