Just after Snapdragon 821-powered smartphones become commercially available, Qualcomm has already begun sampling the next generation Snapdragon 830 to its clients. The Snapdragon 830 (will probably be renamed as Snapdragon 835) is said to come with an internal codename of MSM8998, and the SoC should be expected in the first quarter of 2017.
We can be almost certain that the Snapdragon 830 will be built on Samsung’s 10nm FinFET manufacturing process. Earlier leaks also suggested it would pack eight custom Kryo cores and come integrated with faster LTE Cat. 16 modem.
Snapdragon 830 will face challenges from Samsung Exynos 8895 and MTK Helio X30, but it will be seen on lots of flagship smartphones as always, including the Galaxy S8 scheduled for launch in Q1 next year.
