As everyone is using smartphone more and more, people are starting to care about how fast and safe their devices are charged. The current Qualcomm’s Snapdragon processor-powered devices are mostly equipped with the Quick Charge 3.0 technology, and a new rumor suggests Qualcomm’s next-generation Quick Charge technology is just around the corner.

Quick Charge 4.0 is said to support charging speeds up to 28W, while Quick Charge 2.0 and 3.0 just support max charging rates of 18W. The Chip giant will also introduce a new voltage ststem called INOV, short for Intelligent Negotiation for Optimum Voltage. It will identify the battery temperature and cable compatibility to determine how much power to dish out to the battery at any given moment. It will support voltages between 5V/4.7A-5.6A and 9V/4A.
Qualcomm Quick Charge 4.0 will be available on the first Snapdragon 830 devices slated for launch in Q1 2017, and we should be getting further details sometime soon.
