The smartwatch market is not quite boring this year, since Apple and Samsung have both unveiled their new smartwatches. However, Moto has recently stated that it has no plan for new watches this year.
According to a news post at The Verge, Shakil Barkat, head of global product development at Moto, said that the company doesn’t “see enough pull in the market to put [a new smartwatch] out at this time”.
“We believe the wrist still has value and there will be a point where they provide value to consumers more than they do today,” Barkat noted.
Moto released its Moto 360 in 2014, which got an update in 2015. Now that the smartwatches sales of multiple brands (including Apple, Samsung and Garmin) are declining, and Google delayed the launch of Android Wear 2, Moto decides that now is not the best time to refresh its watches offerings.
