NVIDIA has already refreshed almost all the desktop GPUs with its Pascal architecture, from the mid-range GeForce GTX 1050 to flagship class Titan X. As for the mobile version, Pascal is mostly used for high-end models. We’re still seeing lots of Maxwell-based GPUs on notebook such as GTX 960M and GTX 950M.
According to our reliable sources, there’ll be more Pascal-based mobile GPUs other than GeForce GTX 1080, GTX 1070 and GTX 1060. NVIDIA will present its GeForce GTX 1050M at CES 2017 next month. The new GPU is expected to have similar specs to the desktop version, with slightly higher clock speeds though.
The GTX 1050M will undoubtedly deliver better performance than GTX 970M, and it’s time for the old-fashioned Maxwell to withdraw from the market.
