According to the latest report at IDC, the shipment of worldwide wearables reached 23 million in the third quarter of 2016, showing a 3.1 percent yearly growth.
Basic wearables, primarily comprised of fitness bands, accounted for 85% of the market and experienced double-digit growth.
Fitbit was once again the market leader as the vendor released a long awaited refresh for the Charge HR with the Charge 2. It shipped 5.3 million unit of wearable devices in the third quarter, taking up 23 percent of the market.
Xiaomi and Garmin captured the second and third position with a shipment of 3.8 and 1.3 million units, respectively. Despite the launch of new Apple Watch, Apple failed to deliver exciting new features for it , and thus got the fourth place of the list.
