Tim Sweeney, the founder of Epic Games, has recently claimed that for being a completely open platform, HTC Vive has been outselling Oculus 2-to-1 worldwide.
During his interview with Glixel, Time was thinking highly of HTC Vive, or probably we should say an open platform. He believes Oculus is following a wrong model, iOS. “When you install the Oculus drivers, by default you can only use the Oculus store. You have to rummage through the menu and turn that off if you want to run Steam. Which everybody does.”
As he said, “ultimately, the open platforms will win.”
Sweeny also claimed that the sales of VR products is pretty much what they expected – a little more than half a million PC units.
