The iphone of recent generations haven’t had significant improvements, and people are anxiously looking forward to the 10th-anniversary iPhone model. Apple is apparently not satisfied with the current IP67-rated water resistance ability of the iPhone 7, and iPhone 8 will reportedly be IP68-certified, according to The Korea Herald.
The waterproof ability is quite important for many users, but iPhone 7 seems to be not good enough. Apple describes iPhone 7 as water resistant, but still warns that “splash, water and dust resistance are not permanent conditions and resistance might decrease as a result of normal wear”.
The IP68-rated water resistance will enable the iPhone 8 to withstand 1.5 meters of water for up to 30 minutes, just like the Galaxy S7.
